The Royal Cheshire County Show has been the premier summertime agricultural event in the North West of England for 187 years.
Royal Cheshire County Show 2026: 188 Year
The Royal Cheshire County Show returned for its 187th year, with glorious sunshine and over 80,000 visitors enjoying one of the most successful shows to date. From agricultural showcases to family entertainment, the event once again celebrated the very best of Cheshire’s countryside and community.
This year’s show featured over 3,000 animals, a packed programme in the Horse Show and Sheep Show rings, and an impressive Food Hall with live cooking demonstrations that delighted food lovers throughout the day.
The Main Ring was a true highlight, hosting a spectacular parade that drew the crowds. The incredible Stannage Stunt Team wowed audiences with their thrilling performances, and the much-loved annual Young Farmers’ parade brought colour, energy and creativity to the arena, with their brilliant floats.
There were also record-breaking entry numbers in both the Light Horse competition classes and the Egg class—showcasing the passion and dedication of this year’s competitors.
A huge thank you goes out to all the traders, exhibitors, and everyone who entered the competitions for helping make the 2025 Show such a memorable event. The sun shone, the crowds came, and the atmosphere was fantastic—rounded off with music and entertainment in the evening as part of Late at the Show.
Planning is already underway for an even bigger and better event in 2026!

Organizer: Cheshire Agricultural Society (CAS)
The Cheshire Agricultural Society (CAS) was founded in 1838 by the landed gentry of the county. The inspiration came from the founder President; Field Marshall Viscount Combermere, who was one of The Duke of Wellington’s generals at Waterloo. He later received his Field Marshall’s baton through his successful campaigns in Asia. Born Stapleton Cotton into a landowning family, he had travelled much in England and had observed better farming practice in the drier region of England than in his native Cheshire.
At the age of 65, the Field Marshall persuaded his fellow Cheshire landowners to set into motion a whole series of competitions to encourage better farming methods. This spirit was also transferred to competitions for rural people to ‘improve the moral and industrious way of life’.
