CEATEC History:

The origins of CEATEC trace back to the Japan Electronics Industry Exhibition, first held in 1962. The show comprised four sections — “Televisions, Radios and Other Audio Equipment,” “Radio Equipment including Electronic Applied Equipment,” “Measuring Instruments,” and “Electronic Components” — and drew 207 exhibitors and roughly 150,000 visitors over its 10-day run. Its defining trait as a “comprehensive exhibition” spanning everything from components to finished products has carried through to the present day.

From its 3rd edition in 1964, the show was renamed the Electronics Show. Its 25th edition, the 1986 Electronics Show, drew a still-unmatched record of 443,500 visitors.
