Gulfood: Event Profile

Gulfood is the largest food, beverage and hospitality fair. The event attracts food and beverage industries and professionals to Dubai from all over the world. The event involves over 96000 visitors and over 5000 companies from over 120 countries from all around the world gathered under the same roof. The event aims at promoting the foods and beverage industries. The event also conducts seminars for newly established businesses to gain knowledge from professionals and train under them. The visitors get to enjoy a wide variety of cuisines from different parts of the world and learn about cuisines and gadgets. The event also focuses on latest innovations and technologies used in food industries as well as in day to day requirements.

Gulfood is a major event for food trade in the Gulf region with more than 97,000 visitors and 1 million sq ft of exhibition space in its previous edition in 2018. In 2019, the event is expecting participation from more than 5,000 visitors across 8 sectors: beverages, dairy, fats & oils, health, wellness, free-from, pulses, grains, cereals, meat & poultry, world food (country pavilions showcasing niche and specialty producers) and power brands (one-stop-shop for multiple product categories).

The food industry in the GCC region (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman and Kuwait) has seen a CAGR of 4.2% in terms of consumption, led by cereals (source: Alpen Capital). Factors driving this growth include “favorable demographics, changing dietary habits and preferences, rising tourist arrivals, increasing penetration of organized retail formats such as hypermarkets and supermarkets” according to Rohit Walia, Executive Chairman at Alpen Capital.
