FICCI Naveena Vivasayam 2023: About

FICCI Naveena Vivasayam 2023 is being organized for the 2nd Edition with the support of TNAU, Department of Agriculture Govt of TAMILNADU. FICCI Naveena Vivasayam 2023 is a unique platform to showcase the products, services and technology from Pre-Harvest to Post Harvest and food processing industry. This event will also offer networking opportunities with targeted groups like high-ranking agriculture and food Industry officials to identify and explore business as well as investment opportunities in Tamil Nadu. This event is a neutral platform where farmers, companies, Govt. Departments, researchers and all stakeholders of the Agriculture and Food Processing industry are equally beneficial.

Why Madurai:

Madurai is the second largest city by area in Tamil Nadu after Chennai. Madurai, is also called by different names like “City of Jasmine”, “Temple City”, “City that never sleeps” (Thoonganagaram) It is famous for Jasmine Flowers. Jasmine flowers are transported to other cities of India from Madurai. The District is situated in the South of Tamil Nadu state. It is bounded on the North by the districts of Dindigul, Thiruchirapalli and on the East by Sivagangai and on the West by Theni and South by Virudhunagar. The city has a number of historical monuments, with the Meenakshi Amman Temple and Tirumalai Nayakar Palace being the most prominent.

The major crop production in Madurai district is paddy. Almost the entire paddy produced in the district is hulled locally. There are more scopes of starting the following Paddy based units in the blocks. Producers of paddy can form FPO’s and carry out the following business. Apart from formation of FPO’s, SHGs can also be promoted.

Major crops: Paddy, Cholam, Cumbu, Ragi, Maize, Sugarcane, cotton, Groundnut, Gingelly, besides the major crop Jasmine cultivation is very popular. ‘Madurai Malli’ is being grown on 2000 hectares by 4,000-odd farmers in the district. Flowering instigates after 6 months of planting. Madurai stands first in the production of jasmine flowers in Tamilnadu state.
